This research is aimed: (1) to describe the linguistic form of the anxiety expression in movie manuscripts. (2) To explain the conversational implicature of the anxiety expression and prove the violation of the maxim principle. (3) To explain the politeness pattern of the anxiety expression in movie manuscripts. This research uses documentation and observation methods to gat the data. The data are anxiety expression that have linguistic realization and uttered by common people in a daily life situation. The data sources are Panic Room and Cellular.
To answer those problems, this research employs sociopragmatics analysis, especially the form of anxiety expression by applying linguistic form theories, the conversational implicature of anxiety expression, cooperative principle or maxim theory and the politeness pattern of the anxiety expression.
The result of the analysis shows that first: there are three forms of anxiety expression used in movie manuscript. They are: word, phrase, and sentence. Second: The conversational implicature that is communicated by the speaker violates the principles of cooperative principle or the theory of maxim. Third: There are some politeness pattern that used by the speaker, by using the face threatening act theory (FTA) they are: performing FTA by using bald on record strategy , performing FTA by using positive politeness strategy, performing FTA by using negative politeness strategy, performing FTA by using off record politeness strategy. |
