Summary:The object of this research is a movie Ray by Taylor Hackford. The problem of this research is how Ray Charles Robinson, the main character copes his blindness. The objectives of the research are to analyze the structural elements of the movie and to analyze the movie based on individual psychological criticism. This research belongs to a descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research is the movie entitled Ray. Whereas the data source comes from both primary data source which is in the form of the text of the movie being researched and secondary data source such as biography of the author, websites and other sources. The method to analyze the data is descriptive analysis. Based on the analysis, the writer concludes as follows. First, Ray movie illustrates how Ray Charles Robinson as the main character overcomes the blindness in order to achieve his goal of life. Second, this movie presents psychological phenomena that demonstrate to the readers that in achieving the goal of life people should strive for superiority, cultivating the self-creativity and developing a particular style of life.
