description The object of the research is the novel entitled Rabbit, Run by John Updike. The major problem of this study is how inferiority feeling influences the major character, Harry Angstrom, in John Updike’s Rabbit, Run. It is aimed to analyze the structural elements of novel and describe the novel based on individual psychological approach. The type of the study is qualitative research. There are two data sources that the researcher uses, the primary data sources and secondary data sources. The primary data source is the novel itself and the secondary sources are any information related to study and other books which deal with the study. The techniques of data collection are documentation and library research. There are two conclusions of the study; first, the structural elements of Rabbit, Run is in good unity and related to one another in building the story so that it easier to read and make the story more interesting. Second, John Updike wants to tell that everyone has his own inferiority feelings and ways of overcoming them. In the novel, Harry has problem with his inferiority feeling. It influences his personality in facing the real world. He becomes pessimistic and unconfidence person.
